The HomeWorks Group is led by two veterans in the industry who continue to work full time in fulfilling the projects of the company

Gene Jordan

After graduating with an Electrical Engineering degree from Cal State Fullerton in 1978 Gene started his career in the defense industry working for both Hughes Aircraft and General Dynamics in both field service and design engineering roles in Southern California.  Thirsting for deeper involvement in what was then the booming days of Silicon Valley, he relocated to the Bay Area in 1981 where he worked with Honeywell and Advanced Micro Devices for the next five years in engineering, marketing and sales positions.  In 1986 the corporate world had begun to take its toll and the desire to get more involved with electronic systems for the home became very attractive.  New products were being introduced and the need for companies with the knowledge and fortitude to bring those products to the marketplace to provide installation, programming and support services was quickly evolving.  For the past 22 years Gene has been hands on with our clients to best assure that we understand their evolving needs and create the best integrated solutions for their homes.  Gene still loves the travel and field work required to satisfy our vast client base while also managing the future direction of the company to assure that we continue to offer our clients opportunity to effectively embrace and benefit from the available technology for the home.  When not absorbed in his work, Gene lives with his wife and the youngest two of his five children in Pleasanton, California.

Tom Kadlec

After graduating from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Tom began his career in Integrated Circuit Design for a number of leading Semiconductor companies.  As the software tools became more essential in IC design and architecture, he migrated to the software tools side spending several years at Cadence Design Systems both in applications and marketing.

Tom’s yearning to bring technology to the end user along with a desire to make daily life more comfortable and energy efficient led Tom to try his hand at Home Automation.  Teaming up with Gene in 1995 allowed him to explore and develop this expertise in the design and engineering side of the business.  Building on his experience in user interfaces and system development Tom has always been passionate about a positive and productive user experience for our clients.  Today Tom heads up all engineering and software development at The HomeWorks Group and has been instrumental in developing our keen, highly intuitive and easy to use systems.

Keeping close to the customer, listening to new ideas from clients and delivering on high quality solutions has made The HomeWorks Group a rewarding experience for Tom.
